@massivelyop Hello to you Rift! Picking up a piece of gear drops it into your wardrobe. You can wear whatever you want as part of the wardrobe—there are no class restrictions on heavy, medium, light armor or type of weapon. You got more than one outfit slot for free. You can unlock dyes for unlimited use (although there are some here behind a paywall). You can change your outfit for free whenever, where ever.
It is essentially the best system out of any MMO.
@belghast I stay on #Rift and say that Slivers would be nice to see elsewhere. Get the story of the raids in a solo / 2 player form.
On the subject of IAs and Slivers, the work they did to convert the Hammerknell raid to an IA was pretty awesome too. That was always much better than whatever random zone that other IAs would drop you in.
@massivelyop TFW you wish that #RiftGame could escape their banishment to Gamigo…
@scopique @belghast Yeah, it’s kinda like phpbb from back in the day. The blast radius of something going sideways is a lot smaller in distributed communities, but you’re also much more likely to fall to the fickle whims of an individual in these situations.
But honestly this is the case in something like discord anyways. I think the original #RiftGame discord closed down because the owner ran afoul of the general community.
So I don’t know. I got no kinda argument to make I guess. :D
@massivelyop Yeah, I think we’re all on board with maintenance mode. Even as dismal of a state that it’s in, we can still play #RiftGame, unlike #Wildstar and #VanguardSOH, where we waiting on emu projects.
I will say the case for sunsetting at least helps remove some of the melancholy associated with seeing these dead games and remembering when they used to be packed. As opposed to just having memories of what a sunsetted game once was but not experiencing the emptiness.

Many years ago when I was really in to #RiftGame I had considered setting up a birdsite account for my character there (especially since you could post directly from in game).
I don't feel like I'd want that anymore, since masto seems to scratch that "what I did" itch, but the idea of integration social media into how I game I really find fascinating.
What *would* be neat though, is hooking up tempusgameit to the 'verse.
@gothsong I’m on the fence for a worse fate: to have the game still up with no one playing, or closed down.
Rift needs to have a source code leak ala Warhammer Online/City of Heroes so that someone can build a rogue server. I’m pretty sure that server would have great numbers.
Unlike something like Vanguard or Tabula Rasa, a decent amount of people want to play Rift. They just don’t want to play the future-less shell of itself that gamigo is running.
Ooof...that promotion for free patron time in #riftgame isn't going too well.
Saturday night east coast at 10PM and only a handful of people in Tempest Bay.
@vbarreirojr the sad thing is when it’s gone I think it’s gone. AFAIK there’s no private server in the works. I’ll be sad to see #riftgame go when it does too.
Okay here's my #VideoGames #Introduction
#Utopia (I had a lot of fun playing this very simple game on the family's Intellivision)
#UltimaIV (I took the box back and forth to school so much that it got destroyed)
#MastersOfOrion (Pretty sure this is why I barely passed some of my courses in college)
#WorldOfWarcraft (The first MMO that really got me hooked. Was a guild officer, main healer, and raided MC.)
#RiftGame (Loved it so much I made a thing! https://telaradb.com)
