The public could lose access forever to thousands of miles of paths across #England after landowners successfully lobbied the government, openDemocracy can reveal.
Campaigners have identified 41,000 miles of potential historical rights of way in England and hope to apply to have many of them recorded on modern-day maps.

First contribution to #FingerpostFriday since we moved from the Peak District to #Fermanagh.
There doesn't seem to be a public footpath network around here, which is a bit of a culture shock moving from an area full of rights of way and vast swathes of open access land.
The way I go out walking is going to have to be very different, I think, and I'm still trying to get my head round how it'll work. 🤔

Footpath surveillance. A footpath through a military base, where they remotely buzz you through a fortified gate without any checks. Probably an illegal (and pointless) obstruction to a public right of way, we thought.
