I rigged Sky Scrapper with my #rigify stuff.
There's many things to improve on the rig but it works.
I animated a walk cycle to prove it.

I rigged another character with my #rigify feature set. (The character is 'Rex' from iAnimate)
I'm quite happy with the way the spine turned out. It's a custom bendy bone chain with armature constraints that sits on top of the default rigify spine.
I tried many times over the years to get a something working this way.

I spent way to much time on this #animation test - most of the time was actually coding though.
Bought the model from Blender Market, re-rigged it with my #rigify feature set which meant building a clamshell eyelid rig.
I learned a lot from studying a small child run. Their body mechanics ignore the rules of physics.

I wrote a couple new rig types for my custom #rigify feature set.
First I had to strip back the existing eye rig type so that is doesn't need to find any eyelids.
Then I wrote a clam shell eye rig type that can attach to eye tracking on the previous hack job.
The result.
Clam shell eyelids in rigify (well my version anyway)
They will work for most situations except if you need to translate the eyeball out of the head.
Future me will solve that.

I rigged this #b3d robot model from Blend swap and made him run.
Mainly because I thought it was cute. But also to test my #rigify feature set on a different character.
Found some bugs - fixed them.
Found some things I want to add - wrote them on a list...that I may never get to.
I added some features to the #rigify super head rig.
I made an option to make a stretchy bendy head (useful for cartoon characters)
And world aligned the head control (useful like in every rig).
I think I'm starting to understand how rigify works now.

I've now added a bendy foot option to my rigify feature set.
This is good for cartoony characters, but it's an optional boolean when generating.
Also made a more logical IK base widget that doesn't obscure the character as much the same as the arms.
I'm sure I did things in a really silly way, but hey...it works.
When I learn more, I'll make it better.
Next step - I'll make the a head rig that is world aligned and maybe tidy my ode up.

Here's some more rigify edits.
This time looking at the arms
-edited the IK bone shape so it doesn't cover up so much screen real estate.
-This shape also doesn't scale with the arm so it keeps things visually cleaner.
- implemented the same volume preservation slider when the limb is stretched or squashed (not shown)
-Fixed the naming convention. No more .001 or .002 etc in the limbs.
(this was super easy to change)
Leg edits coming next.

Now my custom spine rig for rigify has an optional volume preservation slider.
The naming convention is also much cleaner.
I wanted to rename the root bone, but that is a much tougher job to do without actually editing editing rigify itself. It's just 1 line in the naming.py file - but I haven't figured out how to override that with a feature set (yet)
Going to start on the edits to the limbs next I think.

Does anybody know a good #rigify #blender tutorial to recommend. Especially how to cutomize a Rigify armature: skinning, weight, custom bones?@blendernation @blenderartists
Hey would anyone maybe have an example #blender model that's rigged with the #rigify addon that I could have a look at? Or just generally well rigged models in blender format? I want to learn how to rig better and I think it'd help me a lot to have some examples of how to do like shoulders and such
