It's been more than two years since I initially reported to that their cameras poison ARP caches on networks by advertising *themselves* as the default gateway. They have yet to respond in any meaningful way, let alone to fix the issue.

This is horrendous behavior. You don't advertise yourself as the destination for an IP that isn't yours, ESPECIALLY not the network's gateway. It effectively kicks EVERYONE on the LAN off the Internet briefly.

Tech nerds: if you have a lot of Ring cameras on your network, be aware that a longstanding bug causes them to try to poison ARP for your default gateway. Here's an example message from my FreeBSD server, on which I have created a permanent entry for my default gateway in the ARP table:

Dec 14 01:18:00 <kern.err> turing kernel: arp: 90:48:6c:xx:xx:xx attempts to modify permanent entry for 192.168.1.1 on em0

The MAC address belongs to a "stick up" camera. They all do this.
