I love the original "Betcha by Golly Wow" by the #Stylistics, but #Prince knocked it out of the park with his cover version.

The Stax museum in Memphis has a dance floor. When I was there an older couple walked on to it just as Back Stabbers started. Without a word they started O'Jay dancing together, then did the syncopated clapping and [pause] "What they do?" before laughing and hugging.
The man responsible for that timeless and still-thrilling Latin proto-disco arrangement, Thom Bell, died Dec 22. #RIPThomBell https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UCY6flzgfA4&feature=youtu.be

Many around my age first heard Mr. Bell's amazing music as kids when our parents, uncles, and aunts played vinyls or 8-tracks of songs he wrote, performed, arranged or produced. Some are still favorites to this day and are constantly in my playlist rotation. Gonna link "Betcha by Golly, Wow" by the #Stylistics and later covered by #Prince in my next post. π

Rest in Power Thom Bell. Iconic record producer and songwriter whose brilliance and sound was behind some of the early successes of The Delfonics, The Stylistics, Elton John and many other artists. Thom Bell will be sorely missed. My condolences to Mr. Bellβs family. #RIPThomBell #music
