Nick Penny has been recording audio of his daily walk by the River Nene. He's now publishing a book with a QR code that will allow people to listen while reading about the wildlife of the area.

I took this photograph of the #RiverNene at #sunset in April 2020. The usual #blue with #clouds and #yellow sun and #reflections of #trees in the still water. I sent it to a friend, she passed it on and eventually it came back to me. It had been enhanced and enriched by unplanned and unexpected alterations as it went from one #digital device to another. This is the image I remember as this is how that evening felt. “We do not remember days, we remember moments.”

Visiting my old manor and venturing to places I haven’t been before. We wandered along the banks of the #RiverNene at Chester Farm, the site of a Roman town. I wonder if the Romans would have seen great white egrets there like we did today? They probably wouldn’t have seen a peregrine, spotted by @steamjam (who sees peregrines everywhere he goes), and certainly not one perching atop a pylon. #Northamptonshire #RomanHistory

Another photograph from the time of the pandemic. This stretch of the #RiverNene in #Northamptonshire was across the road from where we lived. At a time when we were allowed an hour of daily exercise this was my well trod path. #Lucky
