Pockets of #habitat exist across the #MississippiRiver watershed, but they lack #connectivity. This isolation stops the movement of #species between core habitats and leads to lower #biodiversity and resiliency. If we are to create a healthier #watershed we must reconnect core habitats across the #Midwest.

In a landscape as altered as the Midwest, rivers can provide a network of #corridors across an otherwise ecological desert. Heartland Rewilding’s endeavors to reconnect core habitats across the #mississippi River watershed will build on these #RiverNetworks, including the steep slopes and floodplains around them.
