Riverside Drive (RSD) is generally car free at non-rush hours. Side streets are likely never busy and ALL should be slow streets all the time. The question for the side streets is how to accomplish that cheaply. Probably one or two remotely controlled bollards on each side street would do it.

@atthenius @gwagner I've avoided that area traveling south after swimming because its kind of out of my way and is more likely to have winds, but it is safer than Riverside Drive.and during the week isn't crowded.

Will have to start picking up trash again along there in the morning after swimming.

Getting #closePassed on #RiversideDrive by #NYS JP-3941 I think. Anyway its a black Honda. Everyone else was cool. My new thing when I walk down the street passing these aggressive looking cars I just say out loud FUCK YOU TOO.
The driver of this vehicle is an asshole and a shitty driver who is obviously not paying attention or thinking ahead. #Jalopnik would be pointing that out.

On #RiversideDrive between West 72nd and West 120th remove one driving lane in each direction replacing it with a parking protected bike lane in each direction. #Citibike docks can stay where they are and the result is MORE parking. This segment of Riverside Drive does not need 4 driving lanes.

EDIT: @hillernyc 's reply is correct. Riverside Drive only has two driving lanes south of 102nd.

@TheWarOnCars I bike southbound on #RiversideDrive around 8:30am. No sharrows there. Its two lanes most of the way and I take a lane. Most cars give me a wide berth when passing. When a car passes closely, its most likely got a leading T on its plate. I bike northbound on same stretch but its so early (6-6:30am), there's only one car and one bus.
