203 years ago today. The Union Chain Bridge over the River Tweed upstream from Berwick-upon-Tweed opened to traffic on 26 July 1820. At the time it was the world's longest iron suspension bridge. Dryburgh Suspension Bridge is a pedestrian chain bridge in Dryburgh over the River Tweed. The current bridge was built in 1872 and replaces an earlier chain bridge which was the first chain bridge in Scotland when built in 1872. The bridge footpath forms part of the Borders Abbeys Way and also is an additional, optional route on St Cuthbert's Way to visit Dryburgh Abbey.

The Temple of the Muses
a circular nine columned gazebo stands since 1817 on Bass Hill, overlooking the River Tweed at the west end of the village. It is dedicated to the poet James Thomson, the Ednam poet and author of "The Seasons" and the lyrics of Rule Britannia.

Norham Castle, a mighty stronghold located on a rocky bluff on the south bank of the River Tweed, which put it on the English side of the border with Scotland. Ventured out this afternoon for a walk along local section of St Cuthbert’s Way. The light was gorgeous and the scenery really pretty however the ice was treacherous underfoot in parts so there was quite a bit of of clinging to the fence. I do love a good bit of intentional camera movement, though so often I forget about it when I'm out with the camera. There's nothing like the gentle gradients of colour, the smooth transitions of light and tone. These were taken at my current favourite spot down by the river, looking up the Tweed towards the setting sun.
