#RiverWM is brilliant and the tags setup is first class but I really do miss being able to get a windows position and geometry for use with grim to enable taking a screenshot of the active window say rather than having to select it yourself using the mouse.
I know there is supposed to be window recording in wlroots at some point but it could be a while.
@lhp So I finally had time to check https://github.com/riverwm/river/wiki/How-tags-work
But I still struggle to understand how to actually setup tags and view them for my configuration. Why are there no code examples under #examples #riverwm #wayland #linux #twm

Have people here made good experiences with #wayland based #compositors in conjunction with #gaming, BESIDES gnome/plasma wayland sessions? Looking at #labwc #hyprland #sway #riverwm am not sure how well a #tiling wm will work with gaming. But as long as you can create rules to exclude gaming windows from tiling, it should be fine?

Ok so was wondering how on #RiverWM I could automatically float #MPV and have it open at a set size. I discovered that you can set a float rule in River and then in your mpv.conf file you can add a line like:
autofit-larger=40%x40%
Voila mpv now opens floating and at 40% of the screen size. Nice ! 🙃
I'm sorry as I really am loving #RiverWM but I do find myself looking back at the #Qtile git repo all the time in the hope that a new release has dropped with improved #Wayland support. Because atm and it's my fault totally for loving bleeding edge but building with Wayland support right now just doesn't happen due to ongoing dev / changes for the next release.
Am I the only person that feels like this ?

Just installed the XFCE variant of #voidlinux. Then went ahead and installed a tiling window manager, in this case river, simply via `sudo xbps-install river`. I expected river to be selectable during login, where you choose which session you want, but it doesn't show up. Does anyone know what's missing?
Ok. Q about most elegant solution. Running #VoidLinux with #Riverwm.. using thunar as a GUI Filemanager (Ranger for most quick stuff). I have a few remote ‘disks’ 1) Synology NAS 2) SMB fileserver 3) Stack WebDAV filestorage. I have these as 3 ‘locations’ added. Sftp, smb and Davs.. but my system doesn’t hold the pwds. Mostly obnoxious with stack because app password.. probably because not running a keyring? Is that the best solution? Or something else?
Thought it was about time that I changed my wallpaper now that I'm using #RiverWM and #Yambar on #VoidLinux . Absolutely loving this combo too ! ❤️
Haha I've finally got a work around for my void-updates script on #Yambar so if there are updates and I click on the icon shown it opens foot to do the updates and then exits followed by refreshing the Yambar so essentially resetting the updates available to zero so no icon is then displayed.
Took me a minute or two but I got there in the end.
Dots are below if anyone is interested and I know that's not an up to date screenshot yet. 😜

Right now we're cooking !
I've canned #Waybar and have successfully gotten #Yambar configured and running via #Kanshi . This allows me to undock my laptop and Kanshi will run my script that counts how many screens are connected and kills or starts the relevant Yambar on each screen.
Now to start customising the bar to my liking and maybe witting another couple of scripts for it too.

So wanting to love #Yambar and have most of it working how I like with the exception of the battery modules poll-interval doesn't seem to work. If I quit yambar and start it again the battery status updates but only on start up.
I think I'll script it myself as that'll work for sure.
Also I wish there was a way to update the variables that are displayed on the fly say from an on click option.

Still very much a WIP but I've started pushing my dotfiles for my current #VoidLinux #RiverWM setup. There's nothing special and it resembles pretty much the same layout as my previous WM setups as that's what I'm comfortable with.
Ditched the #VoidLinux release version of #RiverWM in favour of building the git master version. It seems ok though and has a few less bugs so only time will tell. All in all though I'm loving it.
