I've shared this #photo before, but it's been a while and it's such a fortunate shot to get, not that elk are shy about having their photos taken, but this big boy appeared out of nowhere as I was hiking the Rocky Mountain National Park summit. He was impressive!

We wound up back at Bierstadt Lake - no snowshoes needed but spikes were a must.
Never disappoints, great place to take out-of-town visitors.

16 followers · 204 posts · Server masto.ai#RMNP has a timed entry system during peak season. Boozy Alan takes a $2 processing fee per timed pass. I think that also works out to about $14k/day at capacity. With all the defense spending they get, they should just operate recreation.gov pro bono.
I also wonder how much revenue the park is leaving on the table through their partnership with Aramark and Deleware North.

My wife and I photograph a lot of surprise marriage proposals in Acadia. Last month while hiking in #RMNP my wife noticed someone having trouble with a tripod and their phone and offered to take a photo. While handing her the phone they filled her in on their plan to propose, she relayed that to me and handed me her phone. She did video on their phone while I took photos with mine and backup video with hers.
