An interesting discussion on #RNIB Talking Book podcast today on the topic of AI narrators. I’m still conflicted about this. I don’t think AI could ever provide the emotion or range of voices a human narrator brings to an #Audiobook, but so many books never get recorded. Is there room for both, perhaps with different pricing? Perhaps we could pay a bit less for a book with an AI narrator?

I just remembered this cool thing my great grandfather created for the #RNIB way back when. It’s a pocket counter/calculator for the Blind. Great Grandad Brynolf was blinded in the second world war when a bomb blew up near him, and my family being the industrious sort, he eventually designed this thing. I used to play with one as a kid, but never could figure out how to use it correctly, though I put that down to having dyscalculia.
Cool eh?
I recently discovered the Orphan X series of books by Gregg Hurwitz which are, thankfully, available in audio format from the #RNIB Reading Services library. Fast-paced adventure stories which really held my interest. A bit Equaliser / super-hero, but very enjoyable. Looking forward to working through the series. #Books #TalkingBooks #Reading
