We always try to visit the wonderful Dunedin/Ōtepoti market when visiting the old home town. Snapped this man on his way back from the market walking past the Royal Navy Reserve Hall in Bow Lane. It seemed to cry out to be edited in black and white.

Gaining his Watch Keeping (WK) certificate and subsequent promotion to Temp.Lt R.N.V.R followed in May-43.
Tip: RNVR seniority date is date effective, but notice may differ. Also often delayed in publication. Need to look ahead in Navy Lists (which become bi-monthly and quarterly muti-volume as the war continues) and check branch seniority list in both existing and next higher rank.
e.g. his Lieutenant rank does not appear until Dec-43.

Tracked HMS Corinthian in WW2 via excellent https://www.naval-history.net/
Found: 5 named convoys they escorted out of Clyde or on return from Gibraltar in '41 and '42 plus W.Patrol.
Tip: site has multiple areas e.g. organisation of Royal Navy and databases with good site search. Look in:
(a) 1000 warship service histories;
(b) Day by Day operations from Admiralty War Diaries (detailed 4Q39-1Q42, outline 2Q42-2Q45);
(c) Convoy Escort movements.
