"Straßensperrungen haben sich in den umliegenden Gemeinden bewährt. Die Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission hat auf über 19 Meilen Straßen die Fahrspuren reduziert und damit die Zahl der Unfälle um durchschnittlich 30 Prozent gesenkt. Die Gemeinden der Metro Detroit, Birmingham, Romeo und Royal Oak, haben jeweils eine Fahrbahnreduzierung durchgeführt und die Unfallzahlen erfolgreich gesenkt. Die Stadt Carmel im US-Bundesstaat Indiana kündigte im vergangenen Jahr ein 13,5-Millionen-Dollar-Projekt an, bei dem Fahrspuren abgeschafft, Ampeln durch Kreisverkehre ersetzt und ein großer Teil der Fahrbahn in einen begrünten Korridor verwandelt werden soll.

In fast allen Fällen regt sich auf lokaler Ebene Widerstand - zumindest bis die Diät in Kraft tritt."

Bloomington mayor asks city council to consider road closure in Lower Cascades Park. I don't see this happening. It's a nice idea but pretty unpopular; and the park isn't reachable in 15 minutes by foot from...anywhere, really.
