"Road salt, a stealthy pollutant, is damaging Michigan waters"

There is nothing stealthy about it. We've known it's bad for decades.

Road salt destroys aquatic ecosystems, but it doesn’t have to. Communities in the Lake George area found a solution that cuts their road salt use in half and saves too. It starts with using instead of rock salt. Please share this with your local municipality.

Salt is killing our watersheds.

Application of brine is one way to reduce road salt application. Our watersheds are paying the price of over-application of road salt and its good to see heavy users look to ways to reduce application.

NY State DOT has initiated salt reduction programs, and a component of these is pre-storm application of brine for anti-icing.

This is a photo of brine pre-treatment on I-90 in Minden on 15 Nov 22.
