Taking the bus in #Berlin today. The driver seems to have a problem with cyclists: he stayed over bicycle lanes at the red light (even though there is a proper bus lane), on a steep street he surprisingly steered towards a cyclist blocking her to move forward and forcing her to quickly brake to avoid the bus and the parked cars or to endanger herself, and now he is repeatedly honking to a cyclist in front of us who is riding a shared lane for cyclists and buses. When a driver endangers my life through impatience or negligence, it's tempting to chase them down at the next junction and yell at them. Unfortunately, this is escalatory & they are in a weapon.

As a cyclist I just have to eat it up when I'm assaulted by motorists. Police & council don't care.

Nothing has prepared me for civic engagement around bike lanes more than playing tower defense games. Sheesh! This one debate on this project began in 2018, and, well, here we are, still fighting off people who care more about #FreeParking than #ClimateChange or #RoadViolence.

The effect of choosing options this way is that we are choosing how much of the harms of redlining we want to recreate and reinforce today, 86 years later. Should residents of redlined districts be subject to more road violence as they bike their kids to school, or bike to work? Or should we protect all of Berkeley's residents from traffic violence equitably? #RoadViolence #Berkeley

Today Emily Day, writing for The Age newspaper (Fairfax) compared the opinion of hating a football team with killing cyclists using a 4WD car for fun, as if they are equivalent and accepted opinions in Australia.

Absolutely shameful journalism, and a shocking reflection of Australia’s car culture that this might be considered funny. In 2032, 11 Victorians were killed by car drivers according to Bicycle Network.
