When I was younger I thought the lyrics to Robert Palmer's “Johnny & Mary” were:
Johnny's alway running around, trying to find serpenty
Now “serpenty” isn’t actually a word, but it sure looks like it *could* be one. I guess I was somehow conflating "serpent" and “serendipity”, but who knows, really?
The actual word, “certainty”, was a bit of a letdown, tbh.

Reading the NY Times obituary for Tom Verlaine I am reminded of Robert Palmer who's quoted. I was lucky enough to see Robert Palmer perform live in the early 80s I think at the Limelight, shortly after moving to New York.
(I apologise to Tom Verlaine fans for not writing about him. I never listened to Television or his music but I am sorry to read of his death.)
