Thursday, August 23, 1984.

1️⃣ This is the first really brilliant episode. Lots of intense face-to-face confrontations - Mason and Cruz, Joe and Kelly, Mason and Peter.

2️⃣ Cruz really comes into his own here as a dynamic hero, a crusader who will stand up to anyone to protect his friend.

3️⃣ Kelly and her conflicting emotions are exceptionally well written here. is superb.

Best episode, so far.

1️⃣ The first meeting between Joe and Kelly justifies the 5 episodes of build-up. and are excellent together. Great chemistry. More then enough to justify them being the core couple of the show, at this stage.

2️⃣ Same goes for and . They are great/cute together. Even if nothing much happens/changes in their storyline.

Ari Folman (Waltz with Bashir) returns with a trippy live action/animation feature. The selling point of this highly ambitious parody on stardom and movie industry, loosely based on Stanislaw Lem's The Futurological Congress, is first and foremost its dazzling animation. The look of The Congress is decidedly retro - a combination of Astro Boy, Fantastic Planet, Betty Boop on acid.

I'm not a big reader, but I had read the book by before I saw the movie and I thought the translation from book to screen was well done.

is loosely based on 's (one of my fave authors). Although it veers noticeably from the source, it is still as wild of a ride, plus plays herself. 😍
If you like your psychedelic and weird, this is a great watch.
It's also one of the few takes on Lem's work, which can be tough to translate to

Problematic lead aside, I started a House of Cards rewatch while I futz around the kitchen. I'm almost halfway through the second season and it's still as good as I remember.

This is an exercise to see if it'll end stronger if I binge the series instead of waiting months (or over a year) between seasons.

Theme song still slaps. For me it's up there with the intros to Fringe (which is my alarm tone), Daredevil, Mad Men, and Game of Thrones.
