I was told by a Lieutenant in the Rochester NY police department tonight that Alex Lombard, the cop who PEPPER-SPRAYED A NINE-YEAR-OLD GIRL IN HANDCUFFS, did a good thing and did it "for her protection".

I don't know how people fail to understand this:

Thinking that it's okay to pepper-spray a child *makes you a bad person*.

(No Black Mirror spec scripts, please. "If she could only breathe capsaicin molecules, it would be lifesav--" shut the fuck up, MFA.)

There's no gray zone. One hundred fucking percent of people who refuse to say it's wrong to mace handcuffed children are bad people.

Terms that translate here to "I am a bad person":
- It's complicated
- You need more context
- It's really the PARENTS' fault
- It didn't violate policy
- Officers have a hard job

Literally the ONLY bar to clear here is to say it's wrong to mace a handcuffed child. That's all.

RPD can't clear that bar, and gets pissed when called out for tripping over it.
