I really miss https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock_Against_Racism. Maybe it’s partially nostalgia, but, boy, you could really feel the energy on the streets this inspired, however dark the days seemed. And they seemed dark, indeed. But maybe I am just too old to know that something similar is happening now. Or maybe this country (the US) is just too big for a similar movement to be as effective. Or maybe our media platforms are too fragmented. I don’t know, but, oh yes, do miss #RockAgainstRacism.

I am celebrating the life of #TerryHall, and realising what a fantastic contribution he made. After the great #rockagainstracism movement in the 70s, he was at the centre of the life-affirming multiracial 2 Tone movement with the Specials. Jerry Dammers wrote "Ghost Town", and went on to write "Free Nelson Mandela". Art CAN change the world.

I think "The Lunatics Have Taken Over the Asylum" should be played instead of national anthem on all official occasions during the mourning period for the brilliant Terry Hall!

Really sad to hear about Terry Hall, The Specials were the soundtrack to my late teens, the Thatcher years, influencing my political views and introducing me to a new genre of music.
