@brion I guess the argument of the author and/or #Roddenberry was that the woman would've died regardless, but that still takes away the agency of allowing someone to determine how they die and what happens to their body after their death.
And you could say that's the second time (that we know of) that the Companion interfered with someone's desire to control how they die, as #Cochrane had set out in space to die.
I also find the view that Cochrane didn't want a relationship with the Companion in its original form, but suddenly stays behind 'out of love' after it's possessed the body of Hedford, rather disgusting and far-fetched... and quite frankly ruins by opinion of Zefram.
