I've just read this book. Great writing set in Covid lock down. I found the fractured storyline confusing and intriguing. Name changes seeming new characters, memories that don't match up. Is this about mental breakdown/hallucinations?
No it's 10 shortstories 😂 and I didn't realise till I'd finished.

Roddy Doyle’s Two Pints is dialog of two guys sitting in a pub and talking daily bullshit. Each chapter is dialog only and brisk. Mostly funny and sometimes heartwarming.

Previous there were 3 volumes but now they’re combined along with a play and zoom episodes, which have yet been published before.

Some brilliant Irish literature that will have you calling everyone a cunt.

Jimmy was in the kitchen filling the kettle when he remembered something, something he'd read a while back. Joe Tex died in 1982.

I feel it's about time for me to re-watch "The Commitments," a jukebox musical dedicated to American Soul music as interpreted by Dubliners. It's based on a book by Roddy Doyle, part of the Barrytown Trilogy of novels, all of which were made into movies. I enjoyed them all, but it's the Commitments I love the most, and have most often re-watched. It's fun and funny, and it's also a pretty good story. You can't say it has a happy ending, but I love it anyway, as it always improves my mood. Bonus- it features a young Glen Hansard, who you might know as the star of "Once," a movie about a Dublin busker.

Jimmy Rabbitte: "The Irish are the blacks of Europe. And Dubliners are the blacks of Ireland. And the Northside Dubliners are the blacks of Dublin. So say it once and say it loud, I'm black and I'm proud."

A star called Henry this entire book is dark, humorous poetry. Also, really enjoying Our Missing Hearts listening on narrated by - I say ‘enjoying’ as much as it's beautifully written, it's all just so terrifyingly close to a possible reality. Christmas reading at it's darkest.
