Holy shit.

In 1962, Roger Corman released a serious political movie about pro-segregation racist terrorism.

Starring William Shatner.

It's a movie about racism made by white people with mostly white characters. But it portrays racism and racist terrorism as insidious, immoral, and anti-American.

The guy who directed "The Brain That Wouldn't Die" made this movie.

I might've said this before, but while Roger Corman's Western "Gunslinger" (1956/1993) is really bad in most respects, the two romantic leads are actually great.

No-nonsense marshal Rose (Beverly Garland) and gunslinging assassin Cane (John Ireland) have genuine chemistry.

They even deliver the so-so dialogue with sparks and snap.

The logical conclusion(?) of watching one film. After The Territory (Raúl Ruiz, 1981), Day the World Ended (Roger Corman, 1955), and Der Stand der Dinge (Wenders, 1982) I'm now watching Most Dangerous Man Alive (Allan Dwan, 1961) as recommended by the man himself.

Supposedly based on a real troublesome event and riddled with much -making adversity, Raúl Ruiz's O Território [The Territory] (1981) nearly stranded as much as the hikers did. In support, Wim Wenders used the same cast for his Der Stand der Dinge (1982), about a film crew's attempt to remake Roger Corman's Day the World Ended (1955). In a wonderful, unscripted circular way, Corman was one of the executive producers of O Território.
