He was released, without the police being able to find out his identity.

Reason for the arrest:
he was blocking a street with a lock-on during the "rebellion week" in #Berlin.

One of the founders of #ExtinctionRebellion #RogerHallam, claims that being arrested is the most effective thing to bring social change, within XR germany there is currently a big debate on how (but also if) to take distance from Roger.

What is more effective then 55 days in prision?
55 days long blocking, it's just that we mostly can't, because the #police comes to arrest us.

being imprisoned isn't something great to archive, it's a price many of us pay for what we do.

das wurde getan. Es wurde geschrieben dass es innerhalb von XR eine Kontroverse zu der Thematik gibt, XR nach außen dies versucht aber klein zu reden. Deine Reaktion, eine weitere Bestätigung des "klein redens" als Teil einer Konflikbewältigungsstrategie.

Was stimmt:
Der Fokus dieser Kritik liegt auf einem Problem, und auch keinen Anspruch eine Gesamtanalyse zu stellen.

Was auch stimmt:
wieviele Menschen jetzt welche Meinung haben weiß ich nicht, aber ich habe viele Menschen gesehen die sich mit #rogerhallam solidarisiert haben, und ergo anderer Meinung sind wie die die das Presseteam darstellt. Und genau das ist Thema dieses posts, der exemplarisch einen Aussschnitt aus der Debatte zeigt.

Kurz nach den Interviews durch #RogerHallam die enorme Kritik gegen XR zu Folge hatte, versuchte XR sich nach außen hin als nun distanziert davon zu präsentieren.

Verschwiegen wurde dabei, dass intern eine intensive Debatte geführt wird, die sich sogar damit beschäftigt ob die Holocaustrelativierung nicht sogar richtig sei. #hambibleibt hatte hier darüber berichtet:

Das dort benannte bestätigt sich gerade in einer weiterführenden internen Debatte von XR.

Darin werden die Presseteams kritisiert, dass sie versuchen eine Meinung von XR zu präsentieren, die aber gar nicht Konsens ist. Es wird sogar gefordert, dass Holocaustrelativierung Platz in der Kommunikation nach außen finden sollte.

...und auch deswegen bleibt meine Aussage, dass XR strukturelle Holocaustrelativierung betreibt.

Nach außen wurde dies kleingeredet wenn Kritik kam, bzw. ganz verschwiegen.

Das ist kein ehrlicher Umgang, aber Imageschutz.

It describes core strategies and ideology of #XR, and the few parts that I read from it are deeply troubeling.

#RogerHallam a founder of #ExtinctionRebellion relativised the #holocaust, claiming it to be "just another fuckery in human history".

Multible XR groups decided to openly distance themself from Hallam in response.

What remains:
Roger Hallam has been/is? leader in creating XR's strategy and ideology. Distancing oneself from him will not lead to change how Roger and fellows designed XR.

Roger also claims:
- Pacifism is the most effective tool (based on historic revisionism and other forms of manipulation) and that XR should spread such permanently through all channels
- police are among the best allies
- being imprisoned by the police is the best one can do against climatecrisis
- vegans, intersectionalists and the left are threat to climatejustice
- we should not publicly outcall people for bad behaviour and should shut down those that do
- we should empathize to embed nationalist and conservative ideology to our movments
- ...

Roger has been spreading a lot of nonsense. #XR adopted most of it, happily not all of it.

Ebenso wie XR Deutschland distanziert sich XR Bochum entschieden von den Aussagen Roger Hallams zum Holocaust im heute erschienenen Artikel bei Zeit online. Er spricht nicht für Extinction Rebellion. Solche Behauptungen sind nicht vereinbar mit den Prinzipien unserer Bewegung und stellen eine inakzeptable Verharmlosung des Leides der Opfer und ihrer Angehörigen dar.

This is part of their core strategy and ideology that every local XR group has adopted, at least I'm not aware of exceptions.

Reason why XR fellows believe in it:

XR created Narratives that:
- make effectivness and public support to be the same thing
- make resieving repression to be the same as resieving public support

Auch in #Frankreich protestiert #ExtinctionRebellion. Und so sieht das dann aus wenn eine der besten Verbündeten, die Polizei (lt. #RogerHallam, co-founder von XR), sie räumen.

Wer für Klimagerechtigkeit kämpft, hat die #polizei als Feind.

...and while those that formulate critiques towards XR are accused of dividing the #climatejustice movement, keep in mind that it's #XR that destribes their strategy as superior, works towards pacification, supports the police, takes position against other climatejustice groups....etc.

Taking position against this division is not the same as causing this division. If you believe otherwise, you're confused.

@puffinus_puffinus@sunbeam.city maybe because they want to be on top of the hieracy, building a centralized organisation that has power over it's decentralized elements, letting them to fullfill their strategy.
At least that is what #RogerHallam and propably people around him want to do.

Hallam bezieht sich nicht nur auf dieses eine Paper, er führt in seinem Buch zusätzlich viele konkrete Beispiele erfolgreichen gewaltfreien zivilen Ungehorsams an.

Und wie schon mehrfach gesagt: Die allermeisten, die zu XR stoßen, waren vorher schon überzeugte Pazifist*innen, da braucht es keinen Trick.
