I gotta have my pool noodle and bolster foam. They're not pretty, but they work for me. Add to that a rotating keyboard, and I'm set. I just can't set aside these indispensable tools.

It may seem rather unpolished to prop up my iPad this way, but I’ve used these makeshift tools for several years now, and I can’t find anything that substitutes for all of them they way I use them!

This pic is a couple years old--it was when I was just beginning as an illustrator and my " office studio" was still in a state of relative tidiness. Since then, I have thoroughly adopted the philosophy, "A creative mess is better than tidy idleness," and moved in an entire shelf of shipping supplies, two shelves of inspirational art and children's books, a product photography tent, and two printers--one that works and one that doesn't.

One of my faves..

This is three years old and a throwback to when I was first learning to draw with Procreate and relying very heavily upon reference photography to dictate what I wanted. It was the first portrait I'd done of an actual living person I knew: my mother.

It's from a photograph of her holding her first great grandchild for the first time. My sister sent it to me from the hospital the 2 days after he was born.
