A nice track I'd never heard before on the youtube channel of my friend Paul Gifford, historian of hammered dulcimers and cimbaloms who collects music, postcards, etc. about Romanian music too.

Two explosions were heard at a gas station in the town of - 10 km from Bucharest - on Saturday evening, injuring 46 people and killing one, local media reported.

Most of the injured were firefighters (26) who came to extinguish the gas station after the first explosion, but the fire eventually spread to a tanker nearby.

Was out tending my plants and the (I think?) neighbours were having a barbecue for their teenage son's birthday. He came over & gave me a dish of pork (we're vegetarian, but couldn't communicate that) & 2 cans of Fanta. I thanked him, wished him a happy birthday & took it inside (don't think we were being invited to join). Will probably put meat in a container & give it to an omnivore friend. Obviously I'll wash the dish & return it, but should I bring anything else?

The other video he sent me, also in , was this 10-year old clip about another from , Ion Borş. We also see some scenes of him putting together instruments as well as showing off various other stringed and blown from his collection.

I've seen videos of Borş performing decades earlier so I think he was a well-known accompanist earlier in life.

A tune I've been listening on repeat the last few days which is a lot of fun is this (mostly) major key fast bulgar with a distinctly feel by Harry Beckerman's "Metronome" orchestra.

Love the whimsy and especially the crescendo building up before the A section repeats. Haven't heard this tune played by any klezmer revivalists yet.
