According to Wikipedia (though there's a "citation needed" on this part), this is the first postwar recording to use the term "klezmer" to refer to the music.

To me, it sounds very, very similar to something I shared during #RomaniMusic week: https://youtu.be/-YO68M79B5o. Does anyone know how the two are related?

Here's a fantastic album by Katja Å ulc. Romani influences, modern sound.
She is from Slovenia and recorded this in Mexico. Part of my #BandcampFriday purchases! 💸
Thanks to @luka for recommending it!
"both are sitting, saying nothing
the door is separating them, hunger uniting them
and the anger with the heaven, too
both are cursing their lives
and from the belly can be heard
the blues of the miserable"

#Flamenco is a style closely associated with Romani music. It evolved in AndalucÃa (the southern region of Spain), so I've always listened to it with Spanish words.
Oliver Rajamani (from Texas, of all places!) takes it all the way back to India, where Roma people actually originated from, which sounded surprising to my ears at first but after a while made a ton of sense. Then, he gives a fascinating explanation of its history.

Here's an article that, well, doesn't at all convince me that Elvis Presley was of Roma origin.
Charlie Chaplin, on the other hand...

Romani/Gypsy music for Genre of the Week
"Celebrated as San Francisco's Ambassadors of Gypsy Rock they describe their music as 'a blend of eastern European gypsy traditional stuff, Spanish flamenco, polka/ska rhythms, and good ol' pop and rock from the west'." (1)

Today I learned (from https://romediafoundation.wordpress.com/2020/04/07/django-reinhardt-and-edith-paif/):
"Django Reinhardt and Edith Piaf are two Roma individuals who overcame many obstacles in their life and created something beautiful. Physical deformities, poverty, and Nazi Germany are just a few examples of these obstacles that they encountered. They demonstrated great resilience in their lives, and today they serve as a great image of the Roma people." [1]
The band was Parno Graszt (translates to "white horse", symbols of purity and freedom in the Roma culture). I was instantly blown away by the energy on stage.
Here's what they sound like:
