#ImageOfTheDay on the Wednesday of #HolyWeek.
The 11th Century Saxon Rood (Cross) outside #RomseyAbbey in Hampshire. Above the crucified Christ, the hand of God is stretched out in acceptance and blessing of his self-offering in death. “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
Romsey was a Saxon community of Benedictine nuns founded in the 10th century. Their church was rebuilt after the Norman Conquest but this magnificent Saxon Rood survived by the Abbess’s Door.

@RevGareth Love #RomseyAbbey - visited last year 40 years since last time. Felt loved & cared for. My “local abbey” is Hexham, of which the same can be said.
#StCatherine with her wheel, on a contemporary hanging in #RomseyAbbey. Today is her feast day.
