Brits bassist en singer-songwriter, en mede-oprichter van #TheSmallFaces in 1965, met #SteveMarriott. Hij schrijft onder andere de songs #LazySunday en #ItchycooParc.
Wanneer Marriott The Small Faces verlaat gaat hij samen met #KennyJones en #IanLcLagan verder als #TheFaces, verstrekt door #RonWood en een nog jonge #RodStewart als frontman.
Met #TheFaces scoort hij talloze hits maar krijgt ook veel kritiek.

In 1981 bezoekt hij ex smalle face #RonnieLane die ondertussen in een rolstoel zit na een jarenlang gevecht tegen MS, ze nemen samen nog het album #TheLegendaryMajikMijits op.
Dit album zal pas 19 jaar later in 2000 verschijnen.
Hij begint terug te touren als #HumblePie tot 1984 en wat volgt is een constant veranderen van bands oa #TheDTs en #TheRecievers.
Zijn laatste dag is één vol mysterie. Op 20 april 1991 overlijdt, in zijn brandend huis, geïntoxiceerd alcohol en cocaïne.

Today’s listening is a dip into the wonderful Ronnie Lane ‘Just For A Moment, music 1973-1997’ box-set.
After Ronnie Lane left The Faces in 1973, he abandoned the rock 'n' roll star lifestyle and went to live on a farm in rural Shropshire.
With a mobile recording studio and a group of like-minded musicians, he created a more acoustic sound, incorporating folk and country elements.
This box-set highlights just what a top-class songwriter that he was!

Many of the pre-1975 editions of TOTP were taped over due to the expense of video tape.
This is one that survived - and the reason for posting it is at 22m00s Rod Stewart and The Faces do 2 live numbers - and they're flippin' magic.
Pretty sure it's only Rod who's singing live for the 2nd number to a TV track.
The quality is awesome for 1971 too.
