Last July we refinanced our home and took out an additional loan to pay for a solar rooftop power system and battery. Yesterday, (a clear but chilly day) our SunPower designed system produced 45 kilowatt hours (kWh) in nine hours. It was used as follows for 24 hours:

13 kWh for home use
13 kWh to the battery storage
19 kWh sold to the grid

This has been the best investment we’ve ever made aside from buying a home to live in. It is mind-blowing how much free power is coming down from the sun every day and we are grateful to have a way to use as well as create clean energy.

The 30% rebate we got on the entire system, (from the recently expanded, Federal, Investment Tax Credit really really helped us finance this project!

If you’re interested in pursuing solar power yourself I’m glad to share what I learned in the process. I don’t gain anything by sharing my experience but the planet will!

We got our first power bill since our #solar energy credit ran out last month, it’s three digits for electricity. We wonder how much longer we have to wait for #SolarEdge to get their act together and get us a new inverter; there’s still no estimate on delivery from them. There has been next to zero communication.

Would I recommend SolarEdge? No way.

Installed #RooftopSolar two years ago. It’s been awesome not paying for electricity. However, I need to drop a #truthbomb about #SolarEdge service and follow up when it comes to warranty work.

Our inverter went out around the New Year. We called our installer, and he submitted a claim to get a replacement since it was still under warranty - said it shouldn’t be a big deal. Fast forward almost three months, and my system is still down with no word on a replacement.
