So, #RootsOfPacha is a #StardewValley clone that plays it incredibly safe gameplay wise, yet still has a few things going for it:

- Better, stronger communal subtext. You're in a clan of hunter gatherers, you contribute, you do not earn money.

- Community agency. Your clan generates prosperity independent of the player, which unlocks new upgrades for your home. You can simply help them along with your own contributions.

- Closer to nature. Forage the land to find your seeds, do so living amongst the animals.

- No combat; chunks of the games locked behind puzzles instead of reflex-based mechanics

- Deeper, more thoughtful animal mechanics. You befriend them in the forest, invite them home, breed them through generations.

- Much more diverse cast of characters.

- About as anticapitalist as a farming sim can get. (No, Pierre, you're not against big business. You are the big business!)

- Cuter dogs

The subtext Stardew Valley tried to go for often fell flat because of the nature of the game. It is inherently a game about turning nature into your money-making machine; Roots of Pacha avoids this with its theming. It has a fair amount of its own shortcomings, but I've been having a really good time with it. Anyone else dive into this prehistoric farming sim?
