Viewing the #RoseParade #floats was great fun, even in the rain!

Washing dishes while #HouseSpeaker vote is being taken. Made popcorn yesterday to watch the #RoseParade and wondering if I should make a batch for today’s multiple votes.

Holy cow I just learned that one of the Tucson high schools has a *trick roper* line that marches with their band. This is very very cool, though it looks like maybe it's only boys (???) I have questions...

The first time I saw the #RoseParade 🌹 in person— 40 years ago, 1983, I worked the parade, selling Kodak film (anachronistic!) in the stands just as the parade turns the corner. Raising money to fund a trip to Taiwan. Prior day I was w/ family in Tucson, flew back to LA New Years Eve. Felt so grown up doing so.

And today there was a high school band from Tucson AZ 🌵 🎷, and the girl’s band from Taipei, Taiwan 🇹🇼 🎺.

What a wild roundabout memory encapsulated in today’s parade.

We may have gotten up quite early today to do the Rose Parade thing ;)

So I was pretty disappointed with the announcers/commentary. They didn't seem to have much information on and weren't as enthusiastic about the float builds. I've been told the local affiliate station did a better job and they also presented the parade in its entirety and without commercials. #roseparade #tournamentofroses #happynewyear

The NBC coverage was pretty good. Hosts were fine. Too many commercials and skipped floats. I'll probably look for the KTLA feed next year. #RoseParade

Watching the #RoseParade and #LasVegas has been a part a number of times. "Small Frontier Town" - 1941; Vegas Vic and beauties riding in 1952 and the infamous Stardust Hotel in 1958.

the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade gives me flashbacks to being forced to glue chrysanthemums to cardboard in a freezing leaking warehouse. This forced child labor was a requirement for kids taking AP courses in the 80s.
(now that I think about it, mumming was the good job, gluing status was the worst)
