Why, yes, I am missing the ice today! This is Mount Erebus, Antarctica, and it’s the southernmost active volcano on Earth and the 2nd highest volcano in Antarctica. In front is the sea ice of McMurdo Sound, which we were breaking through on our way out into the Ross Sea. It was discovered in 1841 by Sir James Clark Ross and named after his ship HMS Erebus. Air New Zealand Flight 901 crashed on it in 1979.
