Another #hardware project I've been procrastinating over was a programmable "knob" for computer input.
Thinking I'd need to write my own drivers, interface hardware, etc this stayed in the perpetual backlog.
I decided to try the @adafruit #RotaryTrinkey, and playing with the examples, I find Windows has native wheel support!
I now have a programmable "knob" for a whole £11.50 :D

I made a simple JavaScript-based generator for rotary encoder labels. It is designed for cassette drive flywheels, but it can be used on any wheel that shall get a rotary encoder attached to it:

Simply enter the diameter of your flywheel, a number of strokes and other data and then click on "Generate label". You will get an SVG graphic you can print and then glue to your flywheel.
