Beech trees in Rothbury, Northumberland. Not native this far north, they are now one of the commonest trees we see up here. The leaves are rich in tannin and decay slowly, tending to suppress new plant growth on the woodland floor. #landscape #woodland #beech #trees #photography #northumberland #rothbury#coquetdale
