TL;DR. Basically studios are gaming the system with little known bloggers having the same weight as major papers, etc. So they pay ~$50 to bloggers who count toward reviews to give positive ones very early to inflate the metrics, and drive viewership.

The Tomatometer is a valuable tool, but if it's being manipulated by PR firms, it's no longer a reliable measure of a movie's quality. Oh, WOW! I just saw my first @DanielleSATM #SolzyAtTheMovies review in #Plex! Was she there all along and I just didn't see? (assuming they pull reviews from #RottenTomatoes!)

ps: It was 1776: "1776 is the rare musical to tackle American Independence with memorable tunes and does so in almost three hours."

Finally watched the #supermariobros movie, and I completely understand this #RottenTomatoes score. The movie is only mildly entertaining if you are not a Mario brothers player. It relies way too heavily on nostalgia, and a lot of the things that happen in the movie mean very little to me out of context. So given that the core audience consists of people who played the game (which is a massive swath of people, admittedly), or parents looking for something for their children to watch it makes sense that the audience score is so high. But when solely judged on it's merit as a movie it falls short.

Continuing on from my little #vegan film watching phase, I finally made time to watch #Earthlings, and if I haven't made the connection by now, I would have after watching this film.

Directed by #ShaunManson and fantastically narrated by #JoaquinPhoenix, it gives an overview of how humans use (abuse) other animals. The film is categorised into #pets, #food, #clothing, #entertainment, and #ScientificResearch. The scenes were difficult to watch, and I couldn't help but simply feel sad. 😞

The quality of the footage shows it's age (2005), though it doesn't change the fact that all the horrendous ways animals are treated in the hands of human, no matter how grainy the footage may appear.

Quality of film footage is far more superior in the film #Dominion (directed by #ChrisDelforce, from #FarmTransparencyProject), which was filmed in 2018. The film footage is of a higher quality and is also categorised by animal, going into excruciating detail about how these poor creatures suffer, by the billions (or rather, trillions).

Despite this, I wouldn't disregard Earthlings, and recommend it to anyone who wants to have their eyes opened!

Both films are rated well on #imdb and sadly both aren't rated on #RottenTomatoes (I wonder why there haven't been any critical film reviews of both these films?).

#rottentomatoes the “critics” are so lame. Their score doesn’t mean shit. Lol … If there is a discrepancy between the critics and the audience score take that as a warning that the critics score is worthless.

Thanks to @MikeyMcFilms for unfogging my brain and making me realise that unlike IMDB, this isn't a rating of the film's "quality", but rather a simplistic view of the percentage of critics and audiences who enjoyed the movie.

And in light of that, you can add me to the 94%!
