Just to follow up, I moved my domain to AWS Route53 and left it there for a week. The response times got *worse* at Route53!

Guess it's time to go back to Porkbun! 🤯

Another (minor) #IPv6 obstacle sorted:

The typical way (that I know) of setting up a Cloudfront distribution in front of an S3 bucket is with a CNAME.

I couldn't do that, because it is for the main domain that also has TXT and MX records. Instead, I used a Route53 ALIAS entry.

A typical ALIAS example is for an "A" record, and most people likely stop there. To /also/ support IPv6 connections , you need to create another ALIAS entry, for an "AAAA" record.

@danilop if I’m understanding this right, this seems to assume apigw and #lambda in region 1 won’t experience any service disruptions as well. A #route53 weighted cname to an #apigw in both regions would be a good resilient strategy in case of region wide disruptions :)

Beware. I just discovered that after transferring all of my domains from #AWS #Route53 to #Google #Domains (which I find cheaper and easier), that AWS was still charging me for "hosted zones". Be careful to check your dashboards and delete any listed "services".

A call to the AWS #Route53 API at route53.amazonaws.com to call the change-resource-record-sets function could quickly update my AAAA record when Verizon sends out a new /56 prefix, however the route53.amazonaws.com hostname itself has no AAAA record so can't be called from a server that only speaks #IPv6.
