Nice try but no! As I understand it "Humpty Dumpty" was a large gun mounted on the walls of #Colchester castle by the #royalists during the second #Englishcivilwar (1647-1648) which fell down and could not be reassembled. Hence the nursery rhyme "Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall. Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. All the King's horses and all the King's men could not put Humpty together again!" Similarly "Rock a bye baby" foretells the "Glorious" Revolution of 1688.

Most Brits are pro-monarchy. The media is overwhelmingly pro-monarchy. All major institutions are pro-monarchy, both officially and culturally. Yet it isn't enough for people like L.A. They get outraged, and strangely insecure, about even the smallest dissent. Utterly bizarre.

I'd go along with that.

There are plenty who are #Royalists, but the vast majority couldn't give a damn about them.

The UK needs to be grateful that it doesn't have a dictator as a leader as many countires do.

Arguably the #Tories could fall into this category !

I've accidentally gathered quite a collection of nineteenth-century English Civil War fiction in PDF format.

Much of it is written by Church of England reverends, but there is a trilogy by William Godwin which features Colonel Lisle, or at least his fictional widow and son. What Lisle himself would have made of that, I cannot imagine.

#Royalists will see the new King engaged with his people... Republicans will see it as merely another rich person's pious words with no material substance.

Personally I'm not a hugely supportive of #scoxit but have no real issues with #IndyRef2 (I'd just personally vote against it) BUT #royalists "now is not the time to look at republican reform" #houseOfLords "now is not the time to look at reforms to peerages" #houseOfCommons "now is not the time to extend devolved powers OR look at electoral reform" the UK is doing a lot of heavy lifting on the case for an Independent Scotland...
