So... I actually just dug out an unopened Raspberry Pi 1 Model B (rev. 2) that I bought in 2012. It's late, so I just flashed the Lite Raspi OS onto the included "kit" 8GB card, assembled a very basic acrylic case and changed the wpa_supplicant.conf to get the WiFi dongle to connect. Had a few hickups, but it connected in the end! My #rpi4b has yet to be shipped out...

After much deliberation, I've finally gone ahead with a #raspberrypi4b 8GB at retail price. I can't tell you how stoked I am!! #rpi4b #rpi #Docker #homelab #selfhosting #portainer

What's the strongest alternative to the #rpi (#rpi4b) right now?
Looking into building a makeshift laptop, with an old laptop display I have, so CPU/GPU specs should be strong for a very responsive experience, GPIO connectivity not so important, etc.
Ideally good mainline linux kernel support drivers and ofc open hardware preferred but not a must.

@danct12 Thanks! Yeah surprisingly it does hold charge. I have booted it to check if it still works 4 or 5 years ago and charged it to about 40%. I'm gonna be using it plugged in without the battery anyway as a beginner "server" to learn how to SSH and stuff. (Before I get my hands on a #rpi4b, excited!)
Well I have been putting all this together to take over the roll of what current #RPi3B+ so to that can be used with #AllStar node.
The only way could get #RPi4B was buying it in a kit, but turns out the #ArgonOne is rather nice case with expansion board. It will take over and have a pressure breakout connected to the GPIO and a USB #RTLSDR dongle attached to receive data via #RTL_433 from the WX outdoor unit.
