Anyone got any tips on monitoring every pin (CTS, DTR, etc) on an #RS232 connection when you only have a cheap Cypress #logicanalyser?

I'm guessing I'm going to need to get a handful of RS232 to #TTL converters so that I don't blow up the analyser with ±12V. But if anyone has a better solution, I'm all ears.

#oldcomputerchallenge Day 3
Today we serve simple terminal emulator st - compliant with #Unix philosophy - do one thing but it the best way. It will be decorated with beautiful font DejaVu Sans Mono. When you place the order, we add some delicious candies - 8-bit CPUs like #Z80, #65816 connected with #serial #RS232 cables (ok with smaller than +/- 12V voltage).

Further sleuthing revealed that the protocol decoding of my oscilloscope agreed with my new (to me) terminal: the little #USB doodad I was using to generate #RS232 was out of spec.

Anyway, I guess the moral of the story here is that they don’t make ‘em like they used to.

Does anyone know the #PSU voltage/pinout for a Pace Linnet intelligent V21/23 modem?

I haven’t had much luck finding details online so far, and I’d like to see if it works!

I went poking about inside and there are two rails + ground, one seems to go straight to a 5v regulator but the other needs more tracing out.

It would save me the effort if someone knows the pinout or has one they can probe!

The 7th of May 1985 is when the second generation of the #MSX standard was introduced.
As well as the #Yamaha V9938 VDP (one of the first #GPU), it defined #RS232 support, Memory Mappers for multiple MBs of #RAM, and the MSX-AUDIO #OPL FM #synth!

@Epsi Well what if we made #Ethernet Adaptors using #RS232 ports and AT commands like a #Modem and added some beeper to do these sounds?

OFC I don't expect those slots to be #ISA or something but something like the #OldNet or #Wifi232-alike #NIC should be possible...

I mean if I had the €€€€€ and skills I'd likely try to build one of those myself for the #CommanderX16, but even a simple #RS232 card that can interface with some "#FakeModem" - #Network adapter would be sufficient.

20 years ago I used a similar hardware (200MHz+ "486") as an #openbsd firewall.

This time it's #BSD and #Debian for different purposes. Just going to install them before stacking them together. I do wonder how much of an air gap I will need to have between them to avoid them heating up each other.

Hi #hivemind, has anyone got the #Wyse WY-120 #serial #terminal to work correctly on #Linux with any #terminfo entries? Specifically, it has trouble with backspace/delete, arrow keys and general #curses page layout. #Halp?

PS: I've seen @veronicaexplains's wonderful video on the WY-55 but this one unforunately seems to have different behaviour.
