Anuj Srivastava explains during his #rssConf2023 keynote that applying some basic of Euclidian geometry (the length of two points rotated is the same prior to rotation) applies to being able to show the patterns in data where the time series don’t necessarily align. Complex structural data.

The maths aside (offt), the goal is to preserve the number of peaks in the functions at start through no alignment to perfect alignment, using Covid hospitalisations in European countries as an example.
