Like today. The non-critical systems are down due to a power outage. In the old days, that's a day off. Now it's a wfh day.
Or this weekend. I was bored and checked my work email via phone. Saw a question the ops people had and answered it.
If wfh doesn't count as real work in the boss's mind, then I don't need that phone and snow days go back to being holidays.

So #Grindr staff chose to #unionize, and company leaders enforced #ReturnToOffice as *retaliation*. Company leaders know #RTO sucks, and they are using it punitively.
They started enforcing #RTO of two days a week, and HALF THEIR STAFF RESIGNED.
The response of the CEO is hilarious. “The team will be smaller than where we were before and where we want to be…So that’ll obviously impact margin in a positive way in the near term.”
That’s like saying “The bad news is I lost my entire left leg. The good news is that I finally got my weight under 160 pounds.”

Grindr Inc. has lost about 45% of its staff as it enforces a strict return-to-office policy that was introduced after a majority of employees announced a plan to unionize.
About 80 of the 178 employees at the LGBTQ dating app company were forced to resign after the company in August mandated workers return to work in person two days a week at assigned “hub” offices or be fired.

Of course, this isn’t entirely due to #RTO, but it being a top-down mandated item (along with other KPIs that don’t reflect the value or raison d'être of our roles, as we ourselves see it) in order to strong-arm a “high performance culture” into existence is certainly not helpful 🙃 (meanwhile, still no CSAT for our assigned accounts and I’ve been asking for 3 years)

Everyone can see through their flawed logic because it’s not a data driven decision and now everyone is forced to trust their “judgement” which let’s face it — seems flawed given this decision.

Anyone with a corporate legal or HR perspective should welcome the alleviation of this perennial office headache.

At some point one of the refrigerator compressors tried to kick on, blowing the fuse in the break room. No one put these two facts together, and it was assumed the fridge died. Everyone’s lunch was thrown away.
