Rubí donkey* in the lemon grove. She is only allowed one lemon.

At this time of year oranges and lemons are ripe here in Spain but it is very noticeable all across the region that fruit and vegetable production is declining, as this becomes the region of Europe that is facing most serious water stress. The current drought will affect supply of produce to northern Europe this summer.

Rubí donkey has started making her own contribution to #Asstodon and you may have seen her #RubíTuesbray posts, where we get some insight (?) into the imagination of a donkey.

But this little thread is about the extra care that Rubí gets. She is a donkey who needs special attention and has a rather 'gloomy' look, with her head mostly lowered. The vet suspects some spinal deformity in infancy: possibly being sat on by mother.

Rubí donkey was the only one of the three female donks who didn't have a bonnet during Sunday's #EasterBonnets day, so I felt very guilty when I saw she'd put herself in the naughty corner.

Great that my vet messaged me at this time on a Friday evening to ask me if everything is OK with Rubí donkey after her dental treatment at the beginning of the week. It is all OK and Cristina is a good vet.

Get a good vet and hang on to them!
