@htt2k for encouragement, I didn’t start taking it seriously until my 40s, and it’s been fantastic. Wish I got down to business sooner, but it’s never too late. For tips, the keys for me are
1) rudiments
2) claves
3) melodies
All jazz drumming is based on #rudiments and there’s no escaping it. By claves I mean Afro-Latin polyrhythm forms that create tension & release, give motion & feel. See also New Orleans drumming. And when jazz drummers aren’t just keeping time, they’re playing the melody!

I think this could be quite a fun to try out in the #PracticeRoom after I finish it. #PracticeBot will soon be able to generate some random (or randomise predefined) #rudiments for us to play... 🎵 🤖

In between bouts of getting work done I am still hitting things repeatedly with sticks.

Yesterday I learned what a paradiddle is. And a double paradiddle, and a triple paradiddle for that matter.

The drum journey continues.
