Dear friends of #BSDCafe and the #Fediverse, my post about the Fediverse's 14 million users milestone is gaining some traction, and for a tech person, this calls for server performance analysis 😊.
Overall, I haven't noticed any significant slowdowns, and the load on the FreeBSD VPS where #Mastodon runs, even during high-boost times, remains at these levels:

load averages: 0.19, 0.30, 0.28

FreeBSD proves once again to be a stable and efficient operating system, even in the face of rapid load changes and on limited hardware. Just like all the BSDs!

Good morning, friends of #BSDCafe and the #Fediverse!

Today, I'm doing some maintenance on a few servers, migrating a couple of #CentOS to #FreeBSD, and an old #Linux firewall with #iptables (done manually) to #OpenBSD with #pf.

Some users (myself included) have noticed that the FreeBSD Fortune bot tends to repost the same advice frequently. According to my statistical calculations, it should repost the same fortune every 4/5 days, but in reality, there seems to be very little randomization. The output is generated directly from the 'fortune(6)' command on FreeBSD, so for now, I'll let it be. In the end, it's one post per hour, so it shouldn't 'spam' too much.

I love all things #IT and spend my time mostly in front of my PC/Notebook/Whatever 😀
(I like retro gaming to 😀 ..and some modern games as well)

I personally use and love #FreeBSD and #OpenBSD
Got a #FreeBSD #NAS here and a #pfSense firewall to play around with. My x240 runs #OpenBSD and I got a Dell OptiPlex running #FreeBSD / #OpenBSD (Both on separate SSD's).
