I'm excited to share the next *open access* paper from our #Rupture project: The Emotional Life of Rupture at #Cambodia's Lower Sesan 2 dam.

This was a collaboration with Sopheak Chann and Soksophea Suong.

Working at LS2, we found that emotions are integral to lived experiences of rupture because such episodes deeply disrupt multidimensional and emotional relationships to place. These experiences are intensified by layered and long-term experiences of change and injustice. By studying these experiences through an emotional lens we can see how embodied experiences resonate at personal and community levels to shape diverse responses to rupture. Although rupture's emotional life can fuel new political claims, these must be navigated in highly unequal settings with unpredictable outcomes.

Updated map of #Turkey #earthquake sequence, with historical #seismicity. The events after the M7.6 (light purple) now more clearly delineate the entire #rupture & merge to the East with the events after the M7.8 (dark purple). Quakes have continued on the M7.8 EAF segment as well.

The current pattern of aftershocks on both sides of the M8.0 Turkey main shock would suggest the #rupture propagated bilaterally, although earlier posts I have seen suggested a unilateral (to the NE) rupture.
There will be many large aftershocks after the M8.0 #Turkey #earthquake in the next days. The number of #aftershocks will decrease with time, but large events can continue to occur, for months or longer.

I want to start again

Last year was

To create a new world there must be a rupture with the old one. And those who live during times of great change can sometimes notice little fissures within themselves. That was her theory anyway. Even when the old world was harmful, it was still her first world.

There were moments on these walkable streets, bursting forth as they were today with gardens and new spring life, that she felt just a little lost, a traveler from a time of honking, rushing, smog, and speed.
