Today the boss came on the intercom to tell the school that we should be prepared to switch to online for tomorrow (and potentially longer) due to the possibility of snow.

I don't particularly like AMI* days, but now that I have scheduled 11 assignments to post at the beginning of the school day, we better not have school.

*AMI = alternative methods of instruction (aka, snow day with homework)

This class I sponsor is hosting prom this year, so I am required to attend. I asked a friend to be my guest, which may cause growing suspicion among the folks who think my sexual orientation is their business.

Anyway, it reminds me that when I started teaching in 2005 at a slightly bigger school just down the road, their policy prohibited same-sex prom dates. I assume that has since changed, but it shocks me to think that it was an accepted rule so recently 🏳️‍🌈
