For those interested in #ruralnews and #ruraldevelopment, I've put up a blog of past (and future) columns and postings I've written for newspapers in my little corner of West Virginia. sojneighbor.org
I'd like to have on-going conversations with people interested in these topics. I'll reference articles here as they seem pertinent to other posts.
For anyone with a mind to chase the idea of #ruralnews and #ruraldevelopment, I've put together a blog with posts of past (and future) articles and op-ed pieces I've written for local press here in the Eastern Panhandle of West. Virginia. if anyone is doing anything similar to this, or aspires to, I'd welcome an ongoing conversation.

#ruralnews There was a nice thought piece in the NYT today by Tony Pipa about #ruraldevelopment. His article fronted the problems of heading off and/or reversing the demise of rural communities. A lot of the comments focus on whether this is a good thing, even if it seems largely a hopeless cause.

I'd like to test the idea of posting #localnews to Mastodon -- and see what it might do to highlight issues of concern to other community newspapers and reporters -- mostly #ruralnews. We do get national reporters taking the pulse of small town America, but the coverage is typically sketchy.
