Set in a far future post-apocalyptic England, it follows 12yo Riddley Walker who is surviving alone in a primitive world that has forgotten most of its history, where news is relayed by storytelling and rhymes while itinerant puppeteers spread propaganda. It has a few flaws (e.g. lack of female characters) but if you enjoy weird unique works, this should be your next read.
