The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has registered a bill to ban the activities of the Russian Orthodox Church in Ukraine.

I have very mixed feelings about this. From my very small anecdotal evidence, this is causing outrage amongst my Russian-speaking, Russian Orthodox-believing, Ukrainian friends. It's also giving fuel to Kremlin propagandists like Soloviev who are all over this news story - although they showed no outrage on the literal torture of non-orthodox groups by Russian troops of course.

On the other hand, if they are spreading Russian propaganda, it needs to be dealt with. It is yet another example of how the Russian World is enmeshed in Ukrainian institutions and was not sorted out after independence.

However, I'm generally against banning religious groups, except in the case of terrorist activity.
